The Pikachu Funko Pop has no light in its eyes, and it’s distressing

Whether you love them or you think they’re an abomination manifested on this earth in a blatant cash grab to capitalize on nostalgia and pop culture, Funko Pops are here to stay. The latest collectible line to hit the shelves is “Pokémon Pop,” starting with none other than Pikachu. The Pokémon Funko Pops are a Target exclusive, and the Pikachu figures, which retail for $8.99, have already sold out and are being resold online for up to $60.

Maybe Funko Pops are this generation’s Beanie Babies. The driving “Gotta catch ‘em all” ethos behind Pokémon jells perfectly with Funko Pops’ mission: synergy!
